Center Overview
The European Union Research Center at the College of International Affairs, National Chengchi University was established to deepen Taiwan’s research and exchange on issues related to the European Union. Its mission is to promote EU studies, cultivate professional talent, and integrate academic resources both within and beyond the university. In addition to regularly organizing conferences and seminars to foster academic dialogue, the center also provides professional analysis and policy consultation on EU-related issues. It actively collaborates with domestic and international think tanks and scholars on joint research projects to enhance Taiwan’s visibility and influence in the field of EU studies. In terms of organizational structure, the center is led by a director and a standing committee, with executive and research staff assigned as needed to balance academic development and practical operations.
Furthermore, the center is a member of the “Taiwan EU Center” seven-university consortium, established on September 2, 2008. Its members include National Taiwan University, National Chengchi University, Tamkang University, Fu Jen Catholic University, National Dong Hwa University, National Chung Hsing University, and National Sun Yat-sen University. Each institution has designated contact points to promote inter-university collaboration and resource sharing, thereby strengthening the overall development of EU studies in Taiwan. The center also works closely with the university’s EU Studies Credit Program and co-organizes academic activities—such as EU forums and graduate student thesis presentation conferences—with National Taiwan University, fostering academic exchange and cultivating the next generation of researchers.
Looking ahead, the center aims to become a leading hub for EU studies in Taiwan by continuing to promote research and policy dialogue through diverse collaborations and resource integration.
